MYKO.BIO carries forward one part of Kineco’s mycelium work: HempComposite, the grow-it-yourself substrate. The material, the recipe and the process are unchanged. We’ve simply given the substrate line its own home, separate from Kineco’s foam and fabric work.

If you’ve ordered HempComposite (or HedelComposite) from Kineco before, you’re in the right place. Nothing about the product has changed, only where you order it.

Mycelium threads growing through organic material

Roots

Grown, not manufactured.

Kineco began as a Dutch agrotech venture, growing mycelium materials from a retrofitted mushroom farm in Ammerzoden, the Netherlands. Their work spans three material families: mycelium foam, fabric and substrate, all grown rather than manufactured, with new material ready in about two weeks.

MYKO continues the substrate side of that work: HempComposite, for designers and makers who want to grow their own biodegradable objects and packaging.

MYKO and Kineco are both part of Mycelium Materials Europe, the group behind the farm and the material research that makes HempComposite possible. The same group also develops MyFoam®, a fully mycelium-based foam, for other applications.
